Synopsis: Site commemorates the events of 31 May 1889 when over 2,200 people lost their lives when a massive wall of water from a broken dam destroyed everything in its path. Second only to the Glaveston Huricane for worst weather disaster in the U.S. Dramatic film tells the story. Stamp Location: The visitor center is located over looking the two remaining portions of the dam, north of Johnstown. To get there, take US 219 to Saint Michael/Sidman exit, head east on SR 869, turn left onto Lake Rd at sign for site. |

Over elaberate visitor facilities are controversial due to their high cost in construction. Stamp Location: Stamp is available in the visitor center, just past the ticket booth (its not in the bookstore which is freely accessable) at the intersection of Lackawanna & Cliff Aves. Follow signs from any of the interstates. Have a map handy as Scranton can be difficult to get out of. |

Synopsis: Park protects river that stretches 73.4 miles (118.3 km) along the New York-Pennsylvania border. The longest free-flowing river in the Northeast. Stamp Location: Stamp is available at park headquarters east of Beach Lake (across the river from Narrowsburg, NY) and at the Zane Grey Museum located just north of the Roebling Bridge in Lackawaxen.
